Studio Job - Gurfam X Studio Job

Studio Job was founded in 1998 by Job Smeets in the renaissance spirit, combining traditional and modern techniques to produce once-in-a-lifetime objects. At once highly specific and yet entirely universal, personally expressive and yet experimental, Studio Job has crafted a body of work that draws upon classical, popular and contemporary design and highly visual and sculptural art.

Gufram introduces Steam Table, a striking piece that transforms smoke into a solid, challenging traditional notions of design. Designed by Studio Job, Steam Table continues the brand’s legacy of defying expectations and reimagining scale.

In true Gufram fashion, Steam Table blends irony and surrealism: a gleaming pot, with golden and bronze reflections reminiscent of a legendary forge, simmers in an eternal alchemy, while a soft, sinuous column of smoke rises and solidifies into the most unexpected element—the tabletop. Though seemingly weightless, the smoke takes form through soft polyurethane, a material Gufram has mastered as an expressive medium, sculpting it into shapes that seem to defy gravity and time.

A snapshot of an impossible moment: a dense puff of smoke that solidifies midair, bringing a touch of playful surrealism into the home. With this creation, Studio Job and Gufram continue to blur the boundaries between art and design, transforming interiors into contemporary fairy tales.

Steam Table will debut at Salone del Mobile 2025 in Milan as a limited edition of 100 pieces. It will be presented within an installation designed by the Milan-based studio (AB)NORMAL for Italian Radical Design, the group behind Gufram, Memphis, and Meritalia®.
