Studio Job - Sconce For Matera

Studio Job was founded in 1998 by Job Smeets in the renaissance spirit, combining traditional and modern techniques to produce once-in-a-lifetime objects. At once highly specific and yet entirely universal, personally expressive and yet experimental, Studio Job has crafted a body of work that draws upon classical, popular and contemporary design and highly visual and sculptural art.

Sconce for Matera

Originally conceived in 2004 as part of Studio Job’s seminal Still Life ceramic collection, Sconce returns in a new and enduring form, reimagined in marble by Job Smeets for the debut collection of the new design brand Matera. Presented at Salone Raritas during Salone del Mobile Milano 2026, the piece revisits one of the early works that helped define Studio Job’s distinctive language.

Matera presents a new collection of collectible stone objects created in collaboration with internationally acclaimed designers and artists. For its debut collection, Matera invited leading international creatives, including Job Smeets, Ronan Bouroullec, Joep van Lieshout, and more to explore the expressive and sculptural potential of natural stone. The brand founded by Manuela Rotta and Stefan Scholten will launch it’s first collection during Salone del Mobile, with material sourced responsibly from select quarries and crafted with precision in a dedicated Italian workshops.
