Studio Job - Rebellious Sophistication

Studio Job was founded in 1998 by Job Smeets in the renaissance spirit, combining traditional and modern techniques to produce once-in-a-lifetime objects. At once highly specific and yet entirely universal, personally expressive and yet experimental, Studio Job has crafted a body of work that draws upon classical, popular and contemporary design and highly visual and sculptural art.

The giant graphics of wilting black-and-white flowers provided a striking backdrop to Viktor & Rolf’s runway. It looked poetic and strangely beautiful.
– Women’s Wear Daily

The stage of the Viktor & Rolf show at Paris fashion week 2013 was set by a black and white backdrop of drooping flowers, with an accompanying runway graphic of herringbone hardwood floors, also in monochrome. The overall scenography and illustrative visuals of ‘rebellious sophistication’ were designed by Studio Job and complimented the similarly toned A/W 2013 collection of the dutch fashion house, however offering dynamic visual variation when compared to the more abstract cuts and patterning found in the modeled garments.
